Manhard has been the executive director of MESH since 2005. MESH?s mission is to form partnerships to build metro-wide solutions that will end homelessness and increase affordable housing choices. In this capacity, Manhard works to bring together the many providers, advocates and county staff in the seven-county metro area to create greater cooperation and collaboration in local efforts to address the issues of homelessness and housing. Prior to joining MESH, he spent over eight years educating the community about poverty and homelessness as the associate director of Urban Immersion Service Retreats program at the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. In 2006, Manhard and local filmmaker, Joshua Krohn, produced Land of 10,000 Homeless 2004-2006, a 40-minute documentary about families, youth, and single adults facing homelessness in Hennepin County. (It is accessible under The Problem section of this web site.) Manhard holds a Master?s of Divinity from Luther Seminary and is a Board Member of Metropolitan Interfaith Council on Affordable Housing (MICAH).
