Overview: Faces of Homelessness

Coming up with an exact count of homeless individuals is challenging, but every three years Wilder Research conducts a comprehensive count of the homeless population in the state of Minnesota. On Oct. 26, 2006, a one-night sample survey counted 2,877 people in homeless shelters or transitional housing in Hennepin County.

It may be surprising that children and young adults make up the largest percentage of the homeless population in Hennepin County.
